CLEVELAND - Medical Service Company is refreshing its 23rd annual education forum, which takes place Nov. 16, by adding a nutrition and diabetes track.
The goal of the addition, says Marketing Manager Julie Banyasz, is to cast a wider net, enticing professionals from diverse fields beyond the realms of sleep technology and respiratory therapy, like nurses and dietitians.
“So, we’re expecting the number (of attendees) to increase just by opening up this new track,” she said.
Originally conceived in 2000 as an in-person event, the Jean S. Marx Memorial Education Forum transitioned into a virtual gathering during the pandemic. Despite this shift, the event’s popularity only increased, consistently drawing more than 1,000 attendees from 48 states.
In addition to the educational sessions led by industry experts, MSC employees will offer short presentations about things the company has implemented, from self-scheduling apps for CPAP appointments to AI use in marketing and health care, as a way to give other providers ideas about how they can use technology in their own businesses, says Banyasz.
One detail that makes this event standout from similar gatherings is its commitment to providing valuable educational content free of charge, says Banyasz. Attendees can earn up to seven continuing education units by using a promo code.
“Medical Service Company has five core values, and two of them are ‘care’ and to ‘drive change,’” said Banyasz. “And that is what we’re doing with our JSM Forum.”
The day-long seminar serves as a tribute to Jean Marx, who founded the business with her husband Merle in 1950.
“Jean was always very helpful, working with patients and educating them on how to use their equipment,” said Banyasz. “When she passed away, they wanted to do something to honor her and providing an educational event was definitely something that she would have treasured.”
