Medicaid, CHIP enrollees increase 13.9%

WASHINGTON – A record more than 80 million individuals now have health coverage through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), according to a new Enrollment Trends Snapshot Report that CMS released this week.
Nearly 9.9 million individuals, a 13.9% increase, enrolled in coverage between February 2020, the month before the public health emergency was declared, and January 2021, according to the report, which is released monthly.

WASHINGTON - CMS has revised the 855S enrollment application and the July 2016 DMEPOS fee schedule, it announced in a Sept. 8 MLN Connects e-newsletter. The agency plans to publish a revised 855S this fall and providers must begin using it Jan. 1, 2017. Until then, CMS will accept both the current and the revised form. The agency has also revised the fee schedule for 66 codes. For most codes, the revised payment amounts for July 2016 are higher than the original payment amounts, according to AAHomecare.

BALTIMORE - Broad new enrollment provisions required by the Affordable Care Act could put HME providers at greater risk of losing their Medicare billing privileges, say industry attorneys.
