CDC: 9.3% of U.S. population has diabetes

WASHINGTON - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the National Diabetes Statistics Report 2014 this week and it's not pretty.The CDC now believes 29.1 million people, or 9.3% of the U.S. population, had diabetes in 2012, up from 26 million in 2010. It believes 21 million were diagnosed and 8.1 million were undiagnosed.The CDC estimates the total costs of diabetes were $245 billion in 2012, up from $174 billion in 2010.
