Survey collects trends, patterns
June 2, 2020HME News Staff
WATERLOO, Iowa - VGM & Associates and HME News have launched the 14th annual HME Financial Benchmarking Survey. The two groups have partnered to bring to the industry a single survey for providers to share their business data for benchmarking purposes. “While yearly survey results provide a 'snapshot' of the current state of the industry, more importantly, we are able to observe trends and patterns, which are so valuable to those in the industry considering potential growth opportunities...
So, what's on my desk, anyway?

The title of my blog is “On the editor's desk” and, this time of year, what's on the editor's desk is…a lot.
Sure, there's the usual detritus of coffee cups, water bottles, hand lotion, gum, desk planner, ear buds and post-it notes.
But there's also more specific detritus related to a number of big projects, specifically the HME News Business Summit, the 2019 HME Financial Benchmarking Survey and the HME Excellence Awards.

Every year around this time, there are a lot of balls up in the air at HME News.
And to keep them all up there, we need your help juggling.
The most time sensitive: the HME Excellence Awards. The deadline to apply for the awards is this Friday, June 6. We've received about half the number of applications this year compared to last year. This makes me sad. It has been a rough couple of years in the HME industry, and I'd like to think that those providers that are still out there doing the good work...
An appeal for help

Each year around this time, I find myself in the position of appealing to HME providers for help on two initiatives that are very important to the future of the HME industry.
The first is the HME Excellence Awards.
Going back to 2002, a panel of three judges has helped us select the best provider in three categories: HME, home respiratory and rehab technology. It's a fun tradition around here—seeing who applies, being bowled over by how many great providers there are out there, and calling...
