Association forms Retail Work Group for complex rehab

WASHINGTON - AAHomecare has formed a new Retail Work Group within the Complex Rehab & Mobility Council. The work group will hold monthly phone calls for suppliers and manufacturers to discuss retail layouts, operational strategies, legal aspects of marketing and promotions and more. “This Work Group is a collaboration of CRMC members who are trying to supplement their cuts in reimbursement with retail cash sales,” says Work Group Chairwoman Nancy Froslie of Sanford HealthCare Accessories....

AAHomecare's CRMC plays bigger role

In an earlier post to this blog, I wrote about how the Power Mobility Coalition (PMC) was closing its doors due to "industry consolidation." At the time, one industry watcher told me that with a decreasing number of groups representing wheelchair providers and manufacturers, watch for AAHomecare's Complex Rehab and Mobility Council (CRMC) to gain power and play a bigger role.
I think AAHomecare and the CRMC took their first step toward doing that last month, when they launched a new "micro" Web site...

The legion of groups that represent wheelchair providers and manufacturers no longer includes the Power Mobility Coalition (PMC).
HME News called the PMC's director, Eric Sokol, this week and heard the following message: “You have reached the offices of the Power Mobility Coalition. The Power Mobility Coalition is now closed. For those who have inquiries regarding the PMC, please contact Steve Azia.” Azia, the PMC's counsel, told HME News that the PMC has been closed...

As we reported in our HME NewsWire on Monday, the "clawback" alternative for standard power wheelchairs crafted by the industry and proposed by Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., has been killed by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
But not all hope is lost, according to AAHomecare, which just sent out this bulletin to members:
