Viemed stays ‘nimble’

LAFAYETTE, La. – Viemed Healthcare is leaning into clinical labor, a “purposeful change” reflecting its commitment to comprehensive care, says CEO Casey Hoyt.
In addition to respiratory therapists, that clinical labor includes social workers who can provide in-demand behavioral health services, he said on a recent call to discuss the company’s fourth quarter and full year 2024 earnings.
“(We have the) ability to go out and pursue those types of (behavioral health) RFPs,” said Hoyt. “And it's something we're acknowledging right now because that staffing becomes a more material part of our business. So, we'll be nimble in that space, and we'll look for many more opportunities.”
As Viemed diversifies its clinical portfolio, it also continues to grow its core product categories, including sleep.
Sleep saw a nearly 10% increase in new patients in the fourth quarter vs. the third quarter and a 43% increase for the year vs. the prior year. It now accounts for 17% of Viemed’s total revenue.
“We are seeing that sequential growth in CPAP units, resupply orders and home sleep tests, as well,” said Hoyt. “As strong as our organic growth engine is, we are looking at additional opportunities that will expand our products, services and our reach to diversified patient types.”
It’s all part of Viemed’s strategy to position itself as a “vital link” between patients, providers and payers, with the company billing itself as an in-home clinical provider vs. an HME provider, says Hoyt.
“That's a significant purposeful change we have been seeking, reflecting our commitment to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care,” he said.
This comprehensive clinical care model also positions Viemed to better meet pressures in the larger marketplace, says Hoyt, who says it’s too soon to know what impact the new administration will have in the year ahead.
“When there's pressure to create efficiencies in health care, that plays into our capabilities,” he said. “When there is transparency, overhauls and more rules to reduce waste, that is also very good for us.”
