LONGVIEW, Texas - Provider Vicki Jones is used to dealing with challenges but she faced a new one this fall as she readied her newest location in a cancer center: its diminutive footprint.
“We are in a prime location at the front entrance but it's so tiny,” said Jones, owner of Women's Health Boutique. “How do we scale down what we do into 701 square feet of usable space?”
The Women's Health Boutique carries a full line of women's health products, like pre- and post-natal items, incontinence, wigs, turbans, and pre- and post-breast surgery products. For its location in the cancer center, Jones will tailor the provider's offerings to those with more of a cancer focus, she said. The cancer center, part of Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas, deals with many types of cancer and treats both men and women.
“We think wigs will be the No. 1 item,” she said. “No. 2 will probably be post-breast surgery products.”
The boutique will also carry compression hosiery to treat lymphedema and a line of skin care products.
Jones is tasked with not only curating her product offerings, but also
“Figuring out fitting rooms, a wig area, stockroom and checkout and still have space to show anything has been a challenge,” she said. “It'll be interesting to see how we operate in a small space.”
