TIFTON, Ga. - The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce named Thad Connally, president and owner of First Choice Home Medical, as its "Small Business Person of the Year" in March.
Connally was nominated for the award by his staff--Skip Wirth described him as "a dedicated, hard-working, ethical, caring and compassionate healthcare professional." He was selected as the winner by his peers in the community.
"We're just trying to do what's right and trying to support the community," Connally said. "That's what I've been trying to impress upon lawmakers the numerous times I've been to D.C. It's the small businesses that support communities. I'm not trying to dis the big guys, but they don't support little league baseball or the arts."
In addition to the chamber, Connally is involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, Southern KY Soccer, Rotary, Hospice of Southern Kentucky and the State Street United Methodist Church.
Connally also supports the HME industry. He's a former president of the Kentucky Medical Equipment Supplies Association (KMESA) and currently sits on its legislative committee.
"So many people have had kind words about this award, which is great," Connally said. "We're all just tired of getting beat over the head by a few bad apples."
