Running tips from Don Spence

I wondered last night, as I was running a 4-mile loop around Baxter Boulevard and back to my house in Portland, Maine: How did Don Spence end up doing in the Pittsburgh Half-Marathon?
The Murrysville, Pa.-based Philips Respironics, where Spence is CEO of Home Healthcare Solutions, was the title sponsor of the May 3 race. Respironics used the race as a platform to raise awareness of the importance of sleep to health and wellness. The company even put together a packet of information, including a one-pager titled "Running Tips & Philosophies from Don Spence." (One tip: "I find if I write (my mileage) down and look at it daily, I am less likely to 'fall off the wagon.'")
Talk about good marketing, especially since the race was making a comeback after not being held from 2004 to 2008!
Spence finished the race in 2:26:36, in case you're curious. As anyone who has run a half-marathon knows, it's quite an accomplishment.
