ALBURTIS, Pa. - You've probably seen Sure Fit's furniture slipcovers on the shelves at Target and other large retailers. Now the company has launched a line of manual wheelchair slipcovers that may be suitable for the shelves of HME stores.
Sure Fit launched the line in April, giving providers another opportunity to not only boost cash sales but also the life and appearance of manual wheelchairs.
“We're slowly branching out into different verticals, including health care,” said Matt Vigano, vice president of sales at the company.
The quilted slipcovers, which are treated with Scotchgard release and are machine washable, accommodate manual wheelchairs with seat sizes of 16 inches by 16 inches or 18 inches by 16 inches.
Sure Fit's foray into health care started with supplying furniture slipcovers to hospitals and long-term care facilities, Vigano said.
“We had further conversations with these properties and they said, 'It would be a great idea to cover wheelchairs,'” he said.
Sure Fit sells a wheelchair slipcover/cushion combo directly to consumers at www.surefit.com. But the company is also courting healthcare providers, which can buy the slipcovers at wholesale costs based on volume, Vigano said.
