Patricia Mastrandrea named HME Woman of the Year

WATERLOO, Iowa — Patricia Mastandrea, CEO of MedCare Equipment Company, was named the 2020 HME Woman of the Year during a virtual event today.

The award, sponsored by VGM and now in its fifth year, recognizes one woman in the industry who has made significant contributions throughout her career to her company, community and the HME industry.

"It's important for all the industry leaders to work with officials to let them know how important it is to let us service those patients," said Mastandrea. "I'm passionate and I love what I do."

Mastrandrea, who was named CEO in 2019, has seen MedCare grow from one location with 20 employees to 13 locations with more than 300 employees during her tenure.

"On behalf of our entire VGM team, I am honored to present Patty Mastandrea with this award, which she has earned over three decades of service to the HME industry," said Mike Mallaro, CEO of VGM Group Inc. "Patty's relentless energy and drive for excellence has helped raise the bar across the industry and she is precisely the type of person we need to lead this business into the future."

The finalists for the award were Mastandrea; Carol Gilligan-Chack, president and owner of Health Aid of Ohio; Tamme Dustin, CEO of Herron & Smith, LLC; and Terry Racciato, president of RAC & Associates.
