MIAMI – Sleeplay’s new app is a one-stop shop for customers and their smartphones, says founder and director Aaron Fuhrman.
In addition to the ability to buy CPAP machines, masks and supplies, the app gives customers access to online CPAP experts, videos and blog posts, as well as user-friendly upload Rx for fast order placement and visibility into past orders.
“We wanted to launch the app to offer products, but over time we saw how important it is to offer CPAP education,” said Fuhrman.
And there’s more to come, including campaign notifications and personalized subscriptions.
“Sleep apnea products are products that are reoccurring,” said Fuhrman. "You need to keep good hygiene by replacing the filters every month, replacing the nasal cushions and headgear. Having an app that sends you notifications so you know when to replace them is so much easier, so much better for the customer.”
Fuhrman expects to roll out the additional features by the end of the year.
While many new businesses struggled to find their footing under the burden of COVID-19, Sleeplay – which launched mere months before the pandemic – has thrived, Fuhrman says.
“There’s a huge market for people who want to buy CPAP equipment without insurance,” he said. “When COVID hit, a lot of products were out of stock and if you wanted to go with insurance, you would need to wait five or six months to get a CPAP machine, which is pretty dangerous if you have sleep apnea.”
Now that the e-commerce provider has carved out a niche in luxury sleep, it plans to add oxygen and maternity products to its online offerings sometime in the fourth quarter of 2023.
“We want to be careful because we don’t want to go into too many different categories,” said Fuhrman. “We want to focus on offering good customer service on sleep apnea.”
