LEBANON, Tenn. - Mickae Lee may be new to Permobil, but there’s nothing green about this seasoned complex rehab technology advocate. Even during her earliest days at NCART, Lee says she always knew she’d fight for access to CRT on some level for the rest of her career.
HME News spoke to the new senior manager of government affairs at Permobil about her 15 years in the industry and why she’s sticking with it.
HME News: What’s something you’re especially proud of accomplishing at NCART?
Mickae Lee: One of the very first projects I was able to immerse myself in was the NCART/NRRTS annual fly-in, which I started helping with back in 2009. Nurturing that event, watching it grow, adapting it as needed, and pouring our hearts into it, so that it would foster relationships between CRT advocates and their members of Congress, is something I will always cherish being a part of.
HME: How can you help in a different way at Permobil?
Lee: I often say that I love helping “connect the dots.” With the many friends and professional relationships I’ve been lucky enough to have over the years, I hope to help facilitate ongoing dialogue between our teams here at Permobil and others involved with this community to further strengthen our connections and influence in this space.
HME: What’s a major goal of yours in your new position?
Lee: It’s hard to choose just one goal. Whether it’s establishing Medicare coverage for power standing systems, enhancing access to upgraded materials like titanium and carbon fiber, implementing much-needed CRT repair reform, or whatever else may come our way down the line, the ultimate goal for me will always be creating pathways to independence for individuals who use CRT. Whatever I can do to make that happen is the work I want to be right in the middle of.
