ATLANTA - Within the HME industry, retail success isn't a matter of luck, but of having a smart marketing strategy, says Medtrade speaker Timothy Robinson, director of digital media for Golden Technologies.
No longer can you simply worry about product, price, and a few promotions, he said.
In “Modern Retail Marketing: How to Get Found Online and Sell More in Store!,” Robinson will show attendees what they need to do to create and execute an effective marketing strategy.
HME News: What are the tenets of a good marketing strategy for retail in the HME industry?
Timothy Robinson: It's really about variety, having a range of products and price points. And you don't want to compete just on price, but on service, as well.
HME: Where have you seen HME providers make the most improvements when it comes to marketing, and where do they need to do the most work?
Robinson: The most improvements have come in opening online stores, but retailers need to focus on their physical brick-and-mortar stores, too.
HME: How can HME providers implement a marketing strategy cost effectively?
Robinson: It's about doing your marketing differently. For example, you still have TV and radio ads, but in your showroom, you can use TV to merchandise products directly.
HME: How do you see the marketing strategy for retail in the HME industry changing five, 10 years down the road?
Robinson: As Medicare reimbursements face deeper and deeper cuts, you'll see stores begin to think more about helping people with broader lifestyle needs and desires, and not just about medical hardware.
HME: What's the most important thing you want attendees to take away from your session?
Robinson: Marketing is a lot of one-on-one service. When people come into the store, you want to show them you're in tune with them as customers and as a community.
