DALLAS - Fifty children and their families will attend the Nov. 22 Dallas Mavericks basketball game as part of “One Shot Away,” a diabetes recognition program hosted by Med-Care Diabetic & Medical Supplies, the Mavericks and the North Texas Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. After the game, the children will get the opportunity to make a shot on the court. “We see this event as a wonderful day to recognize children who are living with diabetes and bring awareness to a disease that impacts 6 million children in the U.S.,” said Steve Silverman, Med-Care founder and CEO, in a release. “With further research, we are one shot away from a cure.” Med-Care is also donating a year's worth of diabetic supplies to 200 children without insurance, according to the release.
