Making silk out of sows

While I don't subscribe to the hysteria—and I don't think HME providers do either—surrounding the swine flu outbreak, it is a good opportunity for providers to position themselves as a resource in their community.
It's also a good chance to get out in front of lawmakers. AAHomecare thinks HME providers should be given first responder status in the event of widespread emergencies and this week's scare underscores that.
“The nation's infrastructure of home medical equipment providers represents a critical piece of any front-line response to pandemic flu,” said Tyler Wilson, AAHomecare president in a statement released on Monday.
The association today sent out a survey on emergency preparedness and I imagine they will put the results to good use.
