ARLINGTON, Va. - Trust, understanding, freedom and unity are the four cornerstones of any successful organization, says David Miller, the keynote speaker at this year's National CRT Leadership and Advocacy Conference.

The title of his talk, “The four cornerstones: the foundation for building through change,” will focus on how these principles can help guide HME providers to work together as they navigate audits, competitive bidding and other industry challenges, like working with Congress to pass legislation to create a separate benefit for complex rehab.

“If those relationships aren't based on trust, if we can't get those representatives to clearly understand and align with us in terms of servicing the disabled population, if we can't hold each other accountable for good standards of practice and be unified, it's going to be a lot more difficult for this industry to be successful in the long term,” said Miller, founder of Spirit Ranch, a leadership development retreat center in Lubbock, Texas.

Miller, who has 34 years of experience in the HME industry, previously owned and operated a small rehab technology and respiratory company with three locations in Texas, before serving as the CEO of The MED Group for 20 years.

“I've been out of the business for 10 years,” he said. “I can't claim to know what the government regulations are, what legislative items are pending and what new technology is coming our way—but what I can do is share these time tested principles.”

Each principle has four subtopics, which Miller will cover in his keynote speech on Tuesday, April 21, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in  Arlington, Va.
