KAHULUI, Hawaii – Gammie HomeCare is asking for donations to help the Maui Food Bank supply basic food needs to residents impacted by the recent wildfires. “Help us match $10,000 in donations,” the company says on its website. To date, Gammie HomeCare has raised nearly $8,000. For every $1 donated, the food bank can provide four meals to the hungry living on the island, according to the provider’s fundraising page. The wildfires damaged more than 2,200 buildings in Lahaina alone, caused more than 14,000 people to lose power at one point and killed more than 100 people, with more than 1,000 people still unaccounted for, according to news reports.
