TORRANCE, Calif. - Convaid Products, a manufacturer of adaptive assistive wheelchairs for the pediatric market, announced Dec. 21 that it has been acquired by Etac AB.
Kista, Sweden-based Etac offers a wide range of mobility-related products, like manual wheelchairs, seating solutions and patient transfer devices, as well as bathing and toileting equipment. It also offers pediatric products through its R82 brand, formerly Snug Seat in the U.S.
“Etac-R82 is known for its high quality, safety, design and vision to put the customer first,” stated Chris Braun, Convaid's president. “These are shared pillars of our companies' cultures and we also share the mission of improving the lives of children with special needs and their families. This is a great fit for Convaid and Etac-R82.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
For Convaid, Etac-R82 opens the door for the manufacturer to offer an expanded product portfolio and to expand its presence, Braun said.
“Together we will form a very strong platform in the world of pediatrics—not only in North America but in all global markets,” he said.
For Etac-R82, Convaid brings “leading technologies, market expertise and top quality products,” said Torben Helbo, president of Etac.
“(This) will further strengthen our ability to meet the needs of the pediatric population,” he said.
