CMS appoints data chief

WASHINGTON - CMS has appointed Dr. Mark Roche as chief healthcare informatics officer in the Office of the Administrator. Roche has more than 16 years of experience working in government, academic and industry sectors on initiatives such as national eHealth strategy, data modeling and semantic interoperability, according to an article on healtcareinnovation.com. In his new role, Roche will be responsible for helping to formulate and implement clinical and technical aspects of CMS's interoperability strategy and MyHealthEData initiative.
