Briefs: Apria, Praxair finalize deal

LAKE FOREST, Calif. - Apria Healthcare has completed its purchase of Praxair's U.S. homecare business, the provider announced March 7. Praxair offered home respiratory services, home medical equipment and enteral nutrition through more than 80 locations nationally. Apria offers home respiratory services, home medical equipment and home infusion through 500 locations nationally. Apria has more than $2 billion in annual revenues.
Best Value finds good deal with Guardian Home Care
LUBBOCK, Texas - Best Value Medical Equipment merged with Guardian Home Care Services, it was announced March 7. Best Value planned to relocate to Guardian's store to create one central Lubbock location. "Our goal has always been taking care of people's needs, and this relocation to Guardian will just give us even more resources to accomplish that goal," Karen Miller, Best Value's manager, told a local newspaper. The provider offers scooters, wheelchairs, CPAP, disposable supplies and basic durable medical equipment. The move was expected to be completed March 31.
Prism Medical retains investor relations firm
TORONTO - Prism Medical, a provider of durable medical equipment and related services to consumers in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, announced in March that it has retained The Equicom Group to provide strategic investor relations and financial communications services. "Their ability to generate increased exposure for Prism within the professional investment community will be an asset as we continue to grow and expand our business," stated Andrew McIntyre, chairman and CEO, in a release. Prism will pay Equicom $7,000 per month for an initial contract term of 12 months.
