BOCA RATON, Fla.--Online provider Total e-Medical entered the blogosphere in March with the launch of its News Blog.
“We wanted to give our patients and our prospective patients a place where they could go and read the latest news in their care areas,” said Nicole Balistreri, marketing and communications director for the company. “There's tons of diabetic blogs, but if you've got an ostomy, there aren't a lot of places where you can go to read the different things that are happening in ostomy care.”
Total e-Medical uses RSS feeds to pull content from other online sources, which Balistreri then rewrites. The company will probably add an online forum and a customer review function at some point, she said.
“We want to know what people have to say,” said Balistreri. “If people like a product, or if they don't, this is all valuable information to us.”
The four-year-old, family-owned company offers diabetes and ostomy supplies; DME; and personal care products. Total e-Medical is owned by an orthopedic surgeon, who stays involved in the day-to-day business. The company bills Medicare and private insurance, and offers 24/7 customer service.
“If you were to call at 11:30 p.m., one of our senior managers would probably pick up the phone,” she said. “We want to be a partner to our patient. We want to work with you and your doctor and provide the best possible care.”
