ANAHEIM, Calif. - Wayne Grau has been tasked with helping MK Battery's complex rehab and retail mobility customers grow their businesses as the company's new HME category manager.
“I learned the business by listening to providers and gaining an understanding of what was important to their customers, and what levels of support they needed from the manufacturer to ensure the patient was taken care of,” he said.
Grau has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, previously working for Pride Mobility Products and The MED Group, where he held leadership roles in sales management, legislative affairs and trade relations.
One big way MK Battery can help its customers grow: by offering high caliber products, Grau says.
“If you spend 5% less money acquiring a product but it ends up causing two service calls within one year, then you have spent about 15% more compared to buying a quality product upfront,” he said. “And of course, what is best for the end-user?”
MK Battery is also researching the most cutting-edge technology, Grau says, including lithium batteries, which have made a splash in the electric car market but have yet to make their mark on the HME market due to cost and stability concerns.
“Our organization is investing considerable resources to work through these issues, but until there is a solution that is safe, economical and sustainable, we will continue to offer the highest quality sealed lead batteries at competitive prices,” he said.
