LAS VEGAS — Medtrade Spring's on-site registration jumped 45% this year, and the show continued its turnaround from just a few years ago when manufacturers openly grumbled over the event's skimpy attendance.
Show organizer VNU Expositions projected a 10% increase in attendance this year, but the deluge of people registering on-site will most likely push that percentage increase higher, said Cory Smith, group show director for VNU.
This year's increase follow's last year's, when Medtrade Spring sold out its educational seminars for the first time in 22 years.
This year's unofficial tally for last month's show (May 6-8): 5,500 to 6,000 attendees.
In part, the mid-year event's growing popularity appears due to more new providers entering the industry, and the overall need for education in an industry with increasingly complex rules and regulations.
To that end, VNU and AAHomecare announced a strategic partnership last month to collaborate on strengthening the educational offerings for Medtrade 2003, Medtrade 2004 and Medtrade Spring 2004. HME
