Invacare CEO announces retirement

ELYRIA, Ohio - Gerald Blouch, president and CEO of Invacare, will retire effective July 31. Blouch, who joined Invacare in 1990 as CFO, will also retire from his position on the company's board of directors. “It has been a privilege to be a part of Invacare's senior leadership team over the past 24 years, most notably as CEO for the past four years,” Blouch stated in a release. “I am confident that, despite its short-term challenges, Invacare has an incredibly strong future.” Blouch was named COO in 1994, taking on responsibility for all domestic and international operations, and he became president and a director in 1996. Robert Gudbranson, who has been senior vice president and CFO since 1998, has been named interim president and CEO. He will also continue in his role as CFO. The Invacare board of directors will launch an executive search process to identify a new CEO and will retain an executive recruiting firm to assist in the search. The search will include a full review of both internal and external candidates.
