Blogs just got a little more interactive—and interesting

TROY, Mich. - For Sleep Solutions Home Medical, keeping up with technology means more than keeping up with the latest CPAP advances. It also means keeping up with how patients receive information.
In October, the provider launched Solutions TV, a series of video blogs that address topics of interest for patients.
“Patients find it more enjoyable to sit down and watch the blogs instead of having to sit there and read all of them,” said Katie Parrott, marketing manager. “We think about questions patients will have or information that people should know about and direct our interview around that.”
The videos are kept to about a minute in length and shot right at the company with a handheld video camera. The videos feature various employees and current topics include the challenges of being a new CPAP patient, and injuries in the home.
Sleep Solutions plans to upload new videos at least biweekly, says Parrott, who gets many of her topic ideas from the patients. Within weeks of launching Solutions TV, many of them were referring to the videos, she said.
“We are always open for feedback and willing to answer any questions that any of them may have,” she said.
With an active social media presence—Sleep Solutions has a Twitter account and Facebook page—and a weekly email newsletter, there's plenty of ways for the provider to engage with its customers, says Parrott.
“It's surprising how many are on social media,” she said. “It doesn't matter what age they are.”
