After 25 years, Janet Sahr calls it quits

BOSTON - After 25 years as arguably the First Lady of HME, Janet Sahr called it quits recently and retired, a year after selling her $20-plus million company Home Care Supply. Sahr started Medi-Rents with two partners in 1977.
During her career, she served on the Region A DMERC council and as president of the New England Medical Equipment Dealers Association (NEMED). She was the first and only chair of NAMES (now AAHomecare), which recently gave her a Lifetime Achievement award.
Sahr stayed on with Home Care Supply long enough to help with the transition and now wants to "enjoy life a little bit, decorating a new home, spending time with family and friends."
As some parting words to the industry, Sahr said: "The industry needs to remain passionate about telling our story to the government and regulators. We cannot sit back and just do a good job. We have to make sure regulators understand what we do and how we do it. We have to keep telling that story and that's why AAHomecare is so important and why being involved at the grassroots level is so important - and not just when we have a crisis like competitive bidding."
