ALBANY, N.Y. – New York State Medicaid will unbundle all CPAP and BiPAP supplies from new set ups effective June 1, AAHomecare reports. The program has also unbundled heated humidifiers and cool humidifiers, according to a 202-page DME Manual Update. Additionally, the program has made it an option to purchase PAP devices or rent them as a 10-month capped rental. NEMEP’s Payer Relations Committee, chaired by David Chandler of AAHomecare, and NEMEP President John Quinlan worked with Medicaid officials to institute the changes. NEMEP is now prioritizing improving high frequency chest wall oscillation device payment policy, improving backup wheelchair and repair policy and addressing other items with low fee-for-service reimbursement compared to surrounding states, AAHomecare reports.
