Next Day Access on track to hit target

Next Day AccessBARTLETT, Tenn. - Next Day Access is more than halfway to its three-year goal of 50 locations, recently adding franchises in Kansas City, Oklahoma City and Fairfax, Va.

“Our focus is in North America—we opened up Canada about three years ago,” said Dave Clark, president. “Ideally, a good franchise territory is around 1 million to 1.5 million people. We find that to be the right amount for the revenue that someone is looking to earn in a market.”

In five years, the plan is to have a franchise in every major market or about 70-plus locations, Clark says.

“(This) is very important because we are a national brand and we do get a lot of calls in markets where we don’t currently have franchises,” he said. “So, there is a sense of urgency to hit those major markets, because we have the need.”

The home accessibility provider got its start in 1997, installing ramps in homes, churches and colleges. Over the years, it added grab bars, ADA toilets, patient ceiling lifts, vertical platform, stair lifts and more to its offerings.

“In 2010, we were doing some business in the workers’ comp industry and the (Department of Veterans Affairs),” said Clark, “so what we really had was a national business and we needed that local ground support.”

In 2012, the company developed a franchise business model and launched its first franchise the following year. It now offers discounts to veterans interested in buying a franchise, as well as existing HME/DME companies thinking about getting into the accessibility market.

“The typical franchise owner that comes to us has had some experience in our industry with a parent that was aging or they're trying to move them into their home, and that's really where we get a lot of attraction from these potential clients,” said Clark.

Clark says the home access market is “wide open” and that bath safety is quickly becoming a priority.

“We're looking at increasing bath to shower conversions, so that's a goal of ours for 2023, to start going into that market,” he said.
