WASHINGTON – CMS is expected to publish a decision memo on coverage for power seat elevation systems by this Wednesday, Feb. 15, kicking off another 30-day public comment period, NCART has announced.
Following the comment period, the agency will review any new evidence, make any necessary revisions and release a final decision.
“As we did in August 2022, NCART will be encouraging all CRT advocates to submit comments regarding the proposed decision,” the organization stated in a bulletin. “If the decision is positive, it will be critical to thank CMS and encourage them to finalize coverage as quickly as possible. If CMS proposes to limit or deny coverage for these systems, it will be even more essential that we present a united front urging them to reconsider.”
CMS on Aug. 15 opened an initial 30-day comment period for the request to reconsider the national coverage determination for mobility assistive equipment to include power seat elevations systems.
NCART stated it would provide an update on how to submit comments as soon as CMS publishes the decision memo.
