NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – Nearly five years after its exit, Enos Home Medical has launched Enos Sleep Solutions to fill a gap in the market for personalized care for sleep apnea, says CEO Jon Enos.
Enos Home Medical in 2019 sold its sleep therapy business to Cape Medical Supply to focus on hospice. Cape Medical was eventually acquired in 2021 by AdaptHealth.
“There's not a whole lot of options (anymore),” said Enos. “It's pretty much a monopoly and I just felt like there could be a better option for patients.”
Enos Sleep Solutions will initially serve the Bristol County area in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, offering both in-home and office setups for CPAP devices and masks.
For the family-owned Enos Home Medical, which was founded in 1950 as an oxygen provider, the new sleep division allows the company to provide the kind of customer service that it already has a reputation for, says Enos.
“It's not one-size-fits-all with the patients,” he said. “We understand that different people have different needs. People were just kind of feeling like they are just a number.”
Enos is also banking on leveraging new technology that has evolved since he exited the sleep market five years ago, including platforms that streamline everything from intake and documentation to billing and collections. Patient apps and remote mask fittings have also gained traction.
“Before, it was kind of labor intensive and it was difficult to track everything,” he said. “(The technology) is expensive, but it’s well worth the investment.”
