AleraCare CEO on infusion market: ‘There’s a lot of white space’

PHOENIX – AleraCare has united and rebranded its existing businesses to boost the company’s profile as it speeds up growth, says CEO Russ Corvese. 

The move further supports its core lines of business: ambulatory infusion centers, home infusion therapy, specialty pharmacy and compounding pharmacy. 

“We’re already seeing (an increase in name recognition),” said Corvese. “We’re in eight states already, all in the West, so as we expand either into more states or into different regions within the states we're in, it really gives us brand recognition.” 

AleraCare comprises the former MedicoRx Specialty Pharmacy, Vasco Infusion, VascoRx Specialty Pharmacy and Vasco Compounding. 

The company, which launched in 2019, has about 40 locations, concentrated mainly in Arizona and along the West Coast. Now it’s primed for more, says Corvese. 

“Most of our growth to date has been de novo, but we do have some funds where we can look at potential acquisitions, so that gives us flexibility for both (models),” he said.  

Corvese credits AleraCare’s success to its business model of partnering closely with physician offices – the company sees itself as an extension of those offices, with “full circle” communication. 

“After every single administration, we’re able to communicate back to them how the administration went, but we’re also measuring the patient’s progression on their disease,” he said. “We see the patients more frequently than the physicians do, so we’re able to educate them and keep them up to speed on how their patients are doing.” 

Looking ahead, Corvese sees tremendous opportunity in the infusion space, particularly in AICs, as payers see how it lowers costs. 

“There’s still a lot of white space out there,” he said. “I see us as being one of the leaders in the AIC market.”
