NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bill Mixon has led NSM for a year as president and plans to build upon the company's existing business in his new role as CEO.
Mixon, who took over the post from Mike Ballard in July, says it's important to have clarity of mission. To that end, he's concentrating on three areas of focus: people, operational excellence and growth.
Good people
To be a good industry leader, Mixon says it's important to have the right team making the right decisions.
“Obviously, complex rehab is a complicated industry and we have to really be smart about how we provide the care that we provide,” he said. “We allow our rehab technology suppliers to make the right choices for their patients and allow them clinical autonomy at their local branch locations to better serve our patients appropriately.”
Consistency is key
As NSM grows and expands, Mixon says he also wants to focus on maintaining the highest standard of service from the top down.
“We want to improve what we do every day,” he said. “We want to leverage best practices and we want to drive consistency across the country in terms of how we serve our patients across our national branch footprint.”
Room to grow
NSM acquired Denver-based USA Mobility in June, and has made several acquisitions since 2014. While Mixon was mum on whether NSM had anything in the pipeline, he said the company wouldn't shy away from future acquisitions if the right opportunity presented itself.
Moving forward, Mixon is also interested in growing the company organically, by adding more rehab technology suppliers to NSM's existing branch locations, and potentially, adding more branches.
“I know we have an opportunity to grow,” he said. “We look forward to it.”
