Trac rolls out electronic solution for written orders

August 4 , 2003 SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Trac Medical Solutions has begun offering an electronic "Written Order" solution and has added new features to their service. Known also as a Written Confirmation of Verbal Orders (WCVO or simply a "Written Order"), a Written Order is required for reimbursement for a multitude of healthcare products, including diabetic and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) products, as well as numerous other items where Medicare does not have a formal Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) designated to a particular service. The electronic Written Order functions similarly to Trac Medical's electronic CMN, which is currently used by a growing number of HME providers around the country, including American Home Patient, the nation's fourth largest supplier. Management of Trac Medical estimates that over 50 million Durable Medical Equipment (DME) claims were processed by Medicare during the twelve month period from Oct. 2001 to Sept. 2002. In addition, Trac Medical has added a custom cover letter and e-Post-it-Note features to it's service offering for both the CMN and written order functions. The custom cover letter allows medical equipment suppliers the ability to customize cover letters which accompany each CMN. The e-Post-it-Note allows suppliers the ability to electronically communicate with their physicians by adding a secure annotation prior to routing a form. "With these new features, TracMed continues to provide added benefits to our customers," said Jeffrey Frankel, President of Trac Medical Solutions. "Many of our current customers have already expressed a strong interest in these new features and we believe it allows us to meet those needs, continue to help reduce their costs and improve the collection of their accounts receivable."
