Rotech takes 'new approach' to improving care

ORLANDO, Fla. - Rotech Healthcare appears to be testing the telehealth market.

ExpressMD Solutions, a Berkeley Heights, N.J.-based provider of remote patient monitoring systems and services for patients with chronic illnesses, announced Aug. 5 that it has signed a non-exclusive national distribution agreement with Rotech for its Electronic House Call solution.

Rotech will provide the solution to chronically ill patients who have been referred to the provider by a national health plan. The health plan wants to reduce re-hospitalization for at-risk patients, as well as the severity of reoccurrences, according to the release.

"The Electronic House Call solution adds exciting new capabilities to Rotech's existing product line, providing our customers with a new approach to improving care for patients with chronic conditions," stated Mary Clark, chief contracts officer at Rotech.

The Electronic House Call solution allows providers to remotely monitor the vital signs of their patients using the web, make adjustments to patient care plans and intervene in a timely manner if their patients encounter any issues before they become an acute care incident. On-call providers are automatically notified if a patient's vital signs are outside of the limits pre-set by their care providers.
