Praxair acquires $25M HME company

DANBURY, Conn. - Praxair Healthcare Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Praxair, the largest industrial gas company in the United States, acquired Alpine Medical last month. Based in Bensalem, Pa., the $25-million HME provides respiratory and other services through three locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Alpine's current management team will continue with the business. Praxair's strategy is to create a business continuum by capturing homecare referrals from hospitals to which it provides oxygen. The healthcare market accounts for about 9% of Praxair's $5.1 billion in sales worldwide. Praxair provides hospitals with one-stop shopping for medical gases, equipment and services and the homecare market with respiratory products and services. HME
