Invacare sues Drive Medical

ELYRIA, Ohio - Invacare reported Aug. 6 that it has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in Washington, D.C., against Drive Medical and its Chinese manufacturer.
The complaint claims that Drive's Ultra Light brand of universal adjustable-height beds infringes on several patents that cover Invacare's line of adjustable-height beds and universal bed ends.
The complaint seeks to bar imports in the United States of Drive's current Ultra Light adjustable-height beds and any infringing new design. It also seeks a cease-and-desist order that prevents Drive from selling, repairing or updating any infringing Ultra Light brand of adjustable-height beds already in the United States.
Invacare previously filed a patent infringement suit against Drive in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio that claims infringement of these same patents and the Invacare Rollite rollators. That case is still ongoing.
