Griffin Home Health: King of the mountain

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Griffin Home Health Care expanded its reach in March when it acquired Carolina Medical Supply in Kings Mountain, N.C.

“We liked their presence in that particular area,” said Bill Griffin, president and CEO.

It's the first buy for Griffin Home Health Care since 2009, when it acquired Med Equip in Gastonia. It now has three locations that serve about 17 counties in North Carolina.

Griffin Home Health Care was founded in 1983. It offers a full line of home medical equipment, including beds and wheelchairs; respiratory and sleep therapy; and medical supplies, including enteral nutrition and incontinence supplies.

It's that diversity that has helped the provider weather the challenges of the HME industry over the past three decades, said Griffin.

“We've certainly taken a look at the scope of services and increased and broadened the scope,” he said. “A whole lot of DME providers these days want to pick and choose what they do. We try to provide it all and provide quality service.”

Griffin Home Health Care won a competitive bidding contract for oxygen in the Charlotte CBA in Round 1. It also contracts with most commercial insurance carriers, said Griffin.
