GMEA makes another buy

PHOENIX - Global Medical Equipment of America (GMEA) looked to its own backyard for its latest acquisition, acquiring American Southwest CPM & Medical Supply.

Both companies are based in Phoenix.

The deal will give GMEA, a strong presence in the rehab market, says Harold Halman, CEO of GMEA.

"They bring with them a solid reputation for service that we plan to expand off of as we continue targeting growth in this trade area," he stated in a release.

In addition to rehab, American Southwest offers a full line of mobility equipment, mattresses, lift chairs and orthotics.

GMEA has made several buys over the last six months. Early this year, it acquired Allen Medical Supply in Opelousas, La. In November 2011, it acquired Palm Coast, Fla.-based Hospitality Oxygen & Medical Equipment and in December, the company acquired Bridgeport, Ohio-based Patriot Medical Supplies.
