Briefs: CPAP claims: Respond to those requests

HINGHAM, Mass. - Slightly more than half of CPAP claims in Jurisdiction A were denied during a review conducted from November 2011 to January 2012, according to NHIC, the DME MAC. Of 807 claims submitted, responses to additional documentation requests were not received for 322 (40%) of the claims. Of the 485 claims for which responses were received, 208 were allowed and 277 were denied/partially denied (57%).

NHIA bestows honor during annual event

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The National Home Infusion Association (NHIA) honored Christopher Maksym with its 2012 Gene Graves Lifetime Achievement Award during its annual conference in April. Maksym is director of pharmacy and home care operations and clinical associate professor at University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. The award is presented annually to an individual who “embodies energy, innovative spirit, leadership and commitment to home infusion patients,” the NHIA stated in a release.

SUWANNEE, Ga. - UroMed in April was named one of the Atlanta Journal Constitution's 2012 Top Workplaces. Sleep Solutions loses longtime employee

DETROIT - Jeff Newman, clinical manager for Sleep Solutions, died April 12, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, the company told HME News. In a farewell letter published in the company's weekly newsletter, Robyn Parrott, president, praised Newman, 51, for his dedication. “You have taught me so much over the last 20 years that I have been blessed to have been a part of your life and you a part of mine,” she wrote.

Supply directory launched

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Incont.org, an online directory of incontinence products, suppliers and retailers, has launched a redesigned and expanded website, it announced in April. The site offers up-to-date information on products and ways to save money on those products.
